Thrissur Pooram

Thrissur Pooram 2025

Today is the Pooram, which Pooram? Thrissur Pooram is known as the Pooram of Poorams.

The name itself gives the answer to what is the Pooram of Poorams. The main participants are the Bhagavathi and Shastas who come from Paramekkavu, Thiruvambady, Kanimangalam, Karamukku, Chembukkavu, Lalurkkavu, Choorakottu, Kavu, Neythalakkavu, Ayyanthol, Ayyanthol, and Panamakumpilly, as witnesses.

The Poorams, which are part of the Pooram, which is lined up with about 100 elephants, bow down to the Desha
Nathan and return.
There is nothing special about Vadakkunnathan tomorrow, but the Bhagavathi Shastas complete the Nitya Pooja, Navakam, Panchagavyam, Sree Bhootbali, etc. and then parade on 5 or 7 elephants.

Thiruvambadi Bhagavathy is taken out in the morning at the Thrissur Brahmaswam Math after the aratt, the puja, and the children's Vedic chanting. At 11 am, the goddess is taken out in the form of Lord Krishna with a round body. She is taken out with the accompaniment of the Panchavadyam, and if she arrives by dog, she is taken out with 15 elephants and pays homage to the Vadakkunnathan accompanied by the Pandi Melam.

At 12 pm, after the aratt and the Sree Bhootbali, the goddess is taken out with the paani koti and taken out in the Chempada Melam. A small Kudamatam is seen. At 3 pm, the Pandi Melam, accompanied by 15 elephants, completes the mela at Ilanjithara and first descends southwards. When the 15 elephants line up facing north, Thiruvambadi Bhagavathy is taken out soon after. Then comes the world-famous Kudamatam. They spend less than two hours and part ways.

At 11 pm, Paramekkavu Bhagavathy accompanied by 6 elephants and 3 elephants start from the monastery and the rituals are repeated. The procession ends at the pandal with Paramekkavu Bhagavathy Mani Kandanal and at the pandal with Thiruvambadi Bhagavathy Naikkanal.

The locals dedicate the contribution made to Sakthan Thampuran Thrissur to the world.

The fireworks are at night, and later in the morning, Paramekkavu Bhagavathy and Thiruvambadi Bhagavathy come to the Sreemoola place of Vadakkumnathan again and offer their respects and part ways. In the evening, Aarattu and Pooram Kodiyirakkam are performed.

The media is saying that the Pooram lasts for 36 hours. When all these come together, including 100 elephants, a melam, panchavadyam talents, festival committee members, poojas and arattu, and the tantric rituals that have been going on for ages, Thrissur Pooram is the Pooram of Poorams in the world.

The rituals of the deities are tantric, they are beautifully performed by the respective country committees, and tomorrow is Thrissur Pooram with Vadakkumnathan as the witness.
